Most common animals of the island are the land crabs and sea birds. Robber crabs also known as Coconut crabs exist in large numbers on island. Here you will find eight species or subspecies of sea birds nest on the island. Red-footed Booby is a common sight in this island. It nests in colonies, in trees and in shore terrace. Other species of birds that you will find here are the Abbott's Booby, Christmas Island Frigatebird, Great Frigatebird, Common Noddy, Christmas Island Thrush and Imperial-pigeon.
